How quickly can you come?

Same-day pickups available most days across Gold Coast and Brisbane — book before 11am for best chance of a same-day slot. Otherwise next-day is standard.

How does your pricing work?

Pricing is by truck volume, not item count. Minimum charge $120. Half a truck is typically $400–$550 depending on stream. Use our instant quote for a number tied to your specific job.

Why don't you give an exact price online?

We give an indicative price online in 60 seconds — but final price needs the crew to see the load. We confirm before any work begins so there are no surprises.

Do I need to be home for the pickup?

No. Kerbside or driveway is fine. We send photos before and after for chain of custody, and you can pay online once the job's complete.

Can you do same-day?

Often yes — depends on your suburb and our truck availability. Book before 11am for the best chance.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No call-out fee separate from the job price. Minimum job charge is $120 which covers single items.

Do you take credit cards?

Yes — Visa/Mastercard via Stripe. We don't pre-authorise; you only pay once the job is complete. No surcharges for card.

What can I include in a pickup?

Furniture, appliances, e-waste, scrap metal, solar panels, mattresses, builders rubbish, hard rubbish, deceased estate items, office cleanout material.

What can't you take?

Asbestos (regulated waste — needs a specialist), hazardous chemicals, large quantities of clinical/biological waste, ammunition, explosives, anything ATO-restricted.

Can you take a fridge or freezer?

Yes — fridges and freezers are part of our standard service. Per-item from $45–$85.

Do you take car parts and tyres?

Yes for car parts and small numbers of tyres. Large bulk tyre loads are routed through our metals partner.

Do you take mattresses?

Yes — mattresses are picked up and routed through a mattress-specific recycler where possible (steel springs to metal, foam to recovery).

Do you actually recycle the stuff or just landfill it?

Materials are sorted on-site. E-waste goes to Sircel / PV Industries. Metals to Sims. Batteries to Envirostream. Reusable furniture to charity partners. Every job gets a recovery report showing exactly where each stream went and what % was diverted from landfill.

Are you NTCRS-aligned?

Yes — our e-waste stream is routed through NTCRS co-regulatory partners. AS/NZS 5377 certification at our Phase 1 site is in progress via Compass Assurance Services.

Do you donate items?

Yes — reusable furniture and goods are donated to local charity partners (Endeavour Foundation, Lifeline Superstore) where condition allows.

Do you offer a recovery report?

Yes — every job receives a written report within 24 hours showing what was collected, where each material went, and the % diverted from landfill. This is unique to Junkbird in the AU market.

Are you insured?

Yes — $20M public liability insurance plus commercial vehicle insurance. Certificates available on request.

Do you provide ABN-linked tax invoices?

Yes — every job is invoiced with a full GST tax invoice for your records.

Can I get a recurring contract?

Yes — strata managers, real estate agencies and property managers can book recurring monthly clear-outs at a discounted trade rate. Email sales@junkbird.com.au to discuss.

Do you do after-hours or weekend pickups?

Yes — common for commercial jobs to run after 5pm or weekends. After-hours surcharge of 25% applies on the standard rate.

Where do you cover?

Gold Coast (all suburbs from Coolangatta to Coomera) and Brisbane (Southside, Northside, CBD, Bayside). Sunshine Coast on request. NZ launching FY27.

Do you provide secure data destruction?

Yes — NIST 800-88 compliant data wipe on IT assets, with per-device certificate. Physical shredding for drives that can't be wiped. $40–$80 per device depending on volume.

Can you remove solar panels?

Yes — we collect old panels at ground level (your installer handles roof removal). Per-panel pricing from $25 for residential, $15–$25 for bulk installer partnerships.

Do you handle batteries safely?

Yes — lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries are bunded for safe transport and routed to Envirostream or Ecobatt. We never put batteries in mixed loads.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Reply to the SMS or email us — no cancellation fee if you let us know more than 4 hours before the pickup window.
